Melanie Dreyer-Lude is originally from Denver, Colorado and currently serves as a professor at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. She is the former co-artistic director of ShatterMask Theatre (St. Louis) and International Culture Lab (New York City), and has been directing professionally for 25 years in many venues both domestic and abroad. In 2011, she directed S/he in Ithaca, New York and Istanbul, Turkey. In 2007, she directed a bilingual production of Outside Inn with German theater artists from Theater Rampe Stuttgart, which played in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, New York City, and Stuttgart, Germany. She has directed Off Broadway at 59E59 St. Theatre in New York, Capital Repertory Company, Quantum Theatre, Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre, barebones productions, and Civic Ensemble, among others. Fluent in German, Dreyer-Lude translates and directs contemporary German plays, which have been produced in the United States and Canada.
